THE BISLEY NEWS MAGAZINE
- SCROLL DOWN FOR THE LATEST ISSUE
The Bisley News is a free quarterly magazine, distributed by volunteers to around 400 local homes, with copies available to collect at various locations in the village.
It is delivered free of charge to some 400 households in and around Bisley, and is entirely self-financing, through (very reasonably priced) advertising. Additional copies are available to collect from The Bear Inn, Bisley Farm Shop, and The Green Shop.
If you would like to send in articles, details of forthcoming events, photographs or anything else relevant to the village, please email the editor, Susan Vesey via this link, or by inputting editor [at] bisleynews (dot) com.
History
Alison Pope was the founding editor of what started as a folded A4 newsletter delivered from time to time.
Nick Riches took over and, some years later, Susan Vesey stood in for Nick while he was ill, and then became editor after his untimely death.
Around that time, to ensure the magazine's financial stability, there was an Elizabethan supper hosted by John and Elizabeth Cowen at Overcourt, which raised over £2,000.
The Bisley News developed into a 40-page magazine, with some coloured pages, published six times a year.
During these years, The Spire, the magazine for All Saints' Church, was incorporated into the magazine.
Kate Gibbons was at the helm for a while, and was a major asset in introducing new advertisers.
Colin Hassall then ran the magazine for ten years; during his tenure, he made the leap to publishing online, extending the readership internationally. It is now - obviously–hosted on this website.
In 2023, Debs Restall became editor, with Lucie Debrot working on the advertising and accounting side. During Debs' time, the frequency of publication was reduced to every three months.
In autumn 2025, after a very successful period in charge, Debs and Lucie were reluctantly forced to relinquish control (both had work pressures, and Debs had had a new baby).
Luckily, Bisley is not short of people willing to volunteer to do things. Within a week of their announcement, Susan Vesey had offered to step back into the editor's shoes, and Baiju McCubbins to take on the accounting and advertising role.
This new team will be in place for the whole of 2026 at least.

We’re having technical issues with uploading the Bisley News this month
- pages from older editions keep replacing the newer. It may be to do with
the format of the pages, but whatever the cause we’re trying to resolve it!
