BISLEY COMMUNITY GROUP
Bisley Community Group is a not-for-profit organisation set up by Bisley villagers.
It was begun in 2019 to run Bis'-Up - the original Bisley music festival.
Today it exists as a vehicle to raise funds for village events (including Bisley Music Festival 2026 and the Big Bisley Bonfire Night Bash 2026) and on occasion to help support other village groups and causes.
The next fundraising event is the February 28 appearance of the ska band The Revolvers - members of which were last seen in the village performing outside the Stirrup at the wonderful post-lockdown freedom gig back in 2022.
Tickets are available now via TicketSource - currently there is an early bird price of £5 per ticket, which will later rise to £7.50. To get the reduced price offer, enter the discount code ‘REVOLVERS EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT' when prompted at the checkout.
Funds:
We think it's important that villagers know how much has been raised, and where the money has gone.
We started 2025 with £676.37 in the Community Group bank account.
We end 2025 with £7,849.71 in the account, and a series of successful events put on.
We have retained around £200 as a cash float for future events, and have a small stock of drinks (cider, wine, and Coke/7up) which was bought for earlier events and not sold so represents stock to be used to generate funds at future events.
All events have more than covered their costs, hence the healthy bank balance.
We aim to be fully transparent: any questions about finances should be directed in the first instance to Iain Pooley, Group treasurer (and a certified accountant).
Obviously Tim and Dan will also be happy to answer any questions.
Dave and Lizzie have had more of a backseat role, but please feel free to talk to them, too.
The 2025 fundraising programme was put on initially to ensure that individuals who had personally underwritten the costs of the returning bonfire night event were not left out of pocket.
Along the way, it was decided also to run the Bisley Music Festival (again, this was done with villagers' personal money at risk).
In the event, both events were financially successful, and that means that we can relax a bit more in 2026, and plan the major events (festival and bonfire) with some confidence.
We will still be running other events, too, and if you are a Bisley resident and have ideas for events that we might be able to fund (or help fund) please click on this link to email the webmaster; the Group's only stipulations are that the event
a) must break even, with a reasonable chance of bringing in more than it costs (so that the Group's coffers stay healthy)
and
b) that you must be prepared and able to promote and run the event.
(We will be able to help with promotion, and may be able to help with volunteers though that depends on timings etc.)
