Bisley is a very tranquil and relaxing Gloucestershire village, with no night-time street lighting, and it makes a great base from which to explore this part of The Cotswolds.

Cirencester, a beautiful market town of Roman origin, known as ‘The Capital of the Cotswolds', is a similar distance (and has a magnificent parish church).
Stroud is five miles away and has a famous farmers' market every Saturday.
There are many less well-known but equally beautiful towns and villages in a fifteen-mile radius - many of them with excellent pubs and restaurants.

The Bear Inn
Once the village courthouse, various highwaymen and other ne'er-do-wells were sentenced to death there in the 1600s; these days it's a more sedate place to enjoy a pint or a glass of wine with your dinner before repairing to bed in one of the two letting rooms.
